Can I relocate my beautiful home to a different location?
The answer is YES!

Many older homes and buildings receive compliments like, ‘great bones,’ ‘they don’t build them like this anymore,’ and ‘what outstanding craftsmanship.’
In 2005, I worked on my first home relocation project. The project involved relocating a beautiful home nestled on Hill Street in Chinatown to Avenue 64 in Garvanza, Highland Park. The house was built in the 1880s and was gorgeous! Yes, it needed some TLC, but I had seen enough buildings over the years to know it was a gem that just needed a bit of polishing.
The owner of this new house was a spry gentleman named Brad. Along with some guidance from my dad, we were able to navigate the many twists and turns of the Planning Department, Building & Safety, and Public Works. I had fun working with Brad on my first house relocation project.
This initial project led to several restoration projects, accessory living quarters, building additions, new construction, ADUs, and, of course, numerous building relocations. Brad has a keen eye and helped save many historical homes from demolition, bringing them to new foundations throughout Highland Park, Los Angeles. Several of the relocated homes have now been converted into beautiful ADUs.
Twenty years after the approval of my first relocation project, Brad approached me in September 2025 with an interesting proposition. He asked if I would be willing to offer my services to other homeowners who were interested in relocating historical homes throughout Los Angeles to the Neighborhoods of Altadena.
So many beautiful Altadena homes were destroyed in the January 2025 fires. Families are looking to move back to the neighboring hills of Altadena as quickly as possible. The primary option homeowners are offered is to build their new home from scratch.
Brad proposed an alternative option to me. Helping families move into beautiful, historic homes that were relocated from around Los Angeles to Altadena and restored to their original splendor (with some modern upgrades, of course). I thought this was a fantastic idea!
Are you interested in relocating a home?
Brad shared some sad stories with me about people getting stuck in the permit bureaucracy while taking on a relocation permit project. If you are planning on relocating a home in Los Angeles County, I can help ease some of your stress and worry.
I love helping people, and I’m passionate about preserving historic homes. I’ve created a Permit Relocation Package that helps me achieve both of those goals. I know that other agencies are charging 2 or 3 times what I am charging for what I include in this permit relocation package. However, after speaking with my partner, we have decided to charge a very fair price to help you through the Building Permit Process.
What is included in the Permit Relocation Package?
Here is a list of what is included in the Permit Relocation Package:
- The As-Built and New Building Plans required to relocate an Existing Single-Family Dwelling.
- The required Building Plans for a Minor Remodel of the Existing Single-Family Dwelling (if needed).
- Preparation of all applications required by the Regional Planning and Building & Safety for the building relocation.
- Coordination with the Structural Engineer, Title-24 Agent, and all other Engineers for the project.
- Meetings with agencies to secure “sign-offs” required by the City and County of Los Angeles.
When can we get started?
To offer you the best customer service and attention, I can only take on two projects per month at the current rate for the Permit Relocation Package. This month is already booked, but I plan to take on a maximum of 8 projects from September through December 2025. Please email me if you have any questions.
